The short version: FreshTrack only collects what it needs to run the app. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose other than providing the service. Your household's food data is yours.
1. Who We Are

2. What Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to operate FreshTrack:
Account information — your email address and encrypted password when you create an account.
Profile information — your display name (optional).
Pantry and grocery data — the food items you add, including names, purchase dates, and shelf life. This data is scoped to your household and is never visible to other households.
Household information — the name of your household and the members you invite to join it.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to:
Create and maintain your account
Sync your pantry and grocery data across your household's devices in real time
Send you expiry notifications you have opted into
Respond to your support requests
Improve app stability and performance
We do not use your data to serve you advertisements, build advertising profiles, or sell to third parties.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
With your household members — pantry and grocery data is shared in real time with the members of your household, as that is the core function of the app.
With Supabase — our database and authentication provider. Supabase stores your data on secure servers. You can review their privacy policy at supabase.com/privacy.
When required by law — if we are legally compelled to disclose information, we will notify you unless prohibited by law from doing so.
5. Data Security
We take security seriously. Specifically:
All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS 1.3).
Data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 on Supabase's infrastructure.
Authentication tokens are stored in your device's secure enclave (iOS Keychain), not in plaintext storage.
Row Level Security policies in our database ensure that users can only access data belonging to their own household — this is enforced at the database engine level.
Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
Biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID) is available as an additional layer of app access control.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we implement industry-standard protections, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and household data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction — request correction of inaccurate data.
Deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated data.
Portability — request your data in a portable format.
Opt out of notifications — disable push notifications at any time in your device settings.
FreshTrack is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Push Notifications
FreshTrack sends push notifications to alert you about expiring food items. You can opt out of notifications at any time in your device's Settings app under Notifications → FreshTrack.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we will notify you via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
